A bit of history …
The Sea Shanty has been operating as a popular holiday rental since April 2019 under the name ‘Island Paradise’.
We decided it was time for a name change and a new seafaring vibe in line with the cottage’s heritage as one of the last remaining original fisherman’s shacks in Pittwater.
The Sea Shanty’ seemed like a good fit, a nod to the heritage shack and to the old sailor’s songs, salty yarns and big fish stories that have been sung and told within these walls in times past…
There have been hundreds of guests over the years and many of them are now regulars who have become part of the Shanty Family.
Guests tend to fall in love with the place and most people who stay here don’t want to go home…

YOUR HOST
Sophie
Sophie is a classically trained artist who learned her trade in a traditional atelier in Florence, Italy.
She was born and bred in Pittwater, and despite her love affair with Europe she can never stand to stay away for too long.
She specialises in portraits, but also paints still life, landscape and figurative works and exhibits in galleries.
The local landscapes and seascapes and the way they change with the seasons are always an inspiration, as are the beautiful native flora and
fauna of the Pittwater area. Sophie’s works are featured on the walls of The Sea Shanty, and she plans to create a studio/ gallery in the cabin
behind the cottage where guests can browse the works and other items like cards, prints and homewares.

Drive to Church Point (about 45 minutes from the CBD), then catch ferry or water taxi to the island. Full notes on how to get here are sent with every booking.
